DJI Inspire 2 Drone Review

dji Inspire 2
DJI are on a mission. They clearly have the number one manufacturer spot firmly in their sights, and the new Inspire 2 with its double camera array hits the sweet spot.

Lighter, higher, faster

With a magnesium alloy body making it both lightweight and incredibly durable, the Inspire 2 can reach speeds of up to 67mph, a 17mph upgrade on the Inspiron. But it’s the height limit that’s truly ridiculous. 16,400 feet above sea level is a long way up, but the Inspire 2’s self-heating batteries make flying even in icy temperatures a snap. These dual batteries deliver a flight time of 27 minutes, plenty of time to capture some outstanding footage with that dual camera set up.

Double the cameras, double the fun

And that camera set up has really captured the imagination of videographers everywhere. Both cameras have their own dedicated live feed, so you can capture dizzying 360-degree panoramas with the camera mounted on a 3-axis gimbal on its belly, and more straightforward navigational shots from the front mounted 2-axis camera. This is designed for 2-person operation: a pilot to navigate and a director to catch some incredible action footage.

Smart features for smart movie making

Alongside that dual camera set up, there’s a range of smart features to unleash your creativity. First, the Inspire 2 has incredible subject tracking and obstacle avoidance features. And then there’s CineCore 2.0, which allows you to capture 5.2k videos at a stunning 4.2Gbps bitrate. This new image processing software pairs with an SSD for really solid data handling capabilities.

More drone than you’ll ever need

If you’re a pro cinematographer, the fact that you can use a range of lenses makes the Inspire 2 worth its hefty price tag. For mere mortals, the Mavic Pro has the same intelligent features, one camera and a substantially lower price tag.
