Newsletter July 2016

Another month has flown by, excuse the pun, and once again we have been busy finding some interesting articles and great quadcopters to review for you. Whether quadcopter is concerned, we have managed to go right across the range as we know that you all have differing budgets and needs. From mini drones to $4000 camera drones we think you’ll be interested in all of them, irrespective of how your wallet’s current state of health is.

We’ve also got three interesting articles for you, perhaps the main point being the fact that the FAA have now firmed up on legislation concerning drones though, as you will discover, it’s business as usual for hobby drone pilots of legislation has been firmed up more on the commercial front. That’s good news for some and not such good news for others, though in fairness, the legislation does seem to be doing away with a certain level of bureaucracy which has to be a blessing to all and sundry.

FAA firms up on drone and UAV regulations – in brief, the law remains the same for hobby drone pilots where registration of both your drone and yourself is required for any drone weighing between 0.5lbs and 55lbs. for commercial drone pilots further registration is required and an online course will need to be taken before certification can be granted. Admittedly some of us are still left scratching our head wondering when stricter legislation is going to be imposed on the fly of drones in public spaces. Read more…

Have you seen the film Inception? – If you have seen the film Inception then you will know exactly what we’re talking about when you look at the image of Istanbul in Turkey we have supplied, an image created by a remarkably talented Turkish artist, Aydın Büyüktaş, who painstakingly created some quite astonishing and bind-blowing images in a semi-folded format giving the impression of a cross between two-dimensional and three-dimensional imagery. There seems to be no end to the way drones are being used to expand the boundaries of photographic artwork. Read more…

Are you a fan of Alfred Hitchcock’s films? – Where above we included some stunning static images, we wanted to show you some further capabilities of video footage shot using a drone. Here we have a couple of spectacular videos showing how effective a technique introduced by Alfred Hitchcock can be where you focus in on one specific object while physically moving the camera away from it. The effect is totally remarkable and we think this will be a technique you could well be trying out yourself. Read more…

Autel Robotics takes on DJI in a head-to-head battle – we think you will enjoy this review as Autel Robotics is probably a name you have not heard of, but trust us it is a name you will be hearing a lot more of in the future. They have decided to challenge DJI head-on in a clash of the titans and have produced a model directed at the sector of the market where the Phantom PH3 holds pride of place. Read more…

Top-five semi-professional camera drones available in 2016 – we thought we’d have a bit of a recap on one or two quadcopter’s that are at the top end of the range for video and photography use. We investigated 20 other review sites for quadcopters and while there was a massive range, we were pleased to see that the general consensus was very much along the lines of those quadcopter’s that we have previously reviewed, thus backing up the quality of information you will find on Quadcopters.com

Of course the newsletter is only about the news and information we share with you, but what we want to do is to have more input from you on our website. We are here to give you ideas, interesting articles to provoke some thought and some great reviews for those of you who are looking to buy your next drone or quadcopter however we are great believers in peer-to-peer reviews, so we genuinely want you to have your say. Whether you want to write a report on a new quadcopter you have bought, or you may have seen the quadcopter in use where you might not have expected to see one. Whatever it is you want to tell us and all the other readers here, please just submit your articles on our website. Thank you. The Quadcopters Team.
