Top drones for Christmas presents this year

Holy-Stone-F181 B

Drones are already predicted to be the top Christmas gift this year, which is no surprise to us at Quadcopters. Whether you’re into stunt flying, amazing aerial photography or you just feel the need for speed, here are our top picks for the drones to buy this Christmas.

DJI Phantom 3
DJI Phantom 3 ($499 Amazon)

Why have we chosen the Phantom 3 and not the Phantom 4? Obviously, the Phantom 4 is the current benchmark for drone performance but we’re not convinced that it represents a huge performance boost over the Phantom 3, which we reviewed here. The Phantom 3 is a really clever piece of kit at a great price and anyone would be delighted to get this under their tree.

Autel X-Star Premium copyAutel X-Star Premium ($699 Amazon)

With a 25 minute fly time and a superb 4k camera with 3-axis gimbal that dismounts for easy upgrades, there’s a lot more to love about the Autel X-Star than just its cool and eye catching orange skin. This has some features, like auto take off and land, that make this a potential DJI killer.

Holy Stone F181Holy Stone F181 ($109 Amazon)

We loved this entry level drone when we first reviewed it back in June. It’s incredibly easy to fly with a great 100m range and pretty good flight time, meaning this little beauty is difficult to beat for sheer bang for your buck.

Syma X5CSyma X5C ($69 Amazon)

The SymaX5C makes it on to a lot of ‘best of’ lists, and at this price it’s not difficult to see why, especially as this is an upgraded model. This is one of the best models for getting into the exciting, and highly addictive, world of drones thanks to its great features and even better price. The fact that it comes with an SD card just makes it even better for the budding aerial photographer.
